My Trail's Gotten warmer - I Hope

I know I've been quiet, but believe me, I've had good reason. I dropped off in the hopes of reaching Dr. Spencer, but no one seems to know how I can reach him. I don't know if I'm being stonewalled, or if someone's trying to shut him up. His channel has nothing else encrypted - he's just silent.

Another Voice. Another shot in the dark. And now, with the rain pouring over the dark city, my evidence will keep washing away.

This has to stop.

I had to turn my attention elsewhere, I had to do something. Unfortunately, I knew that another call to arms wouldn't help me find my missing Voice. You've done an amazing job of helping me. In fact, many of you saw something I didn't - in fact, I never even put it there.

This recording comes up if you click on the post-it with the name Calhoun Masters.

I guess now we know what the voice of No More Heroes sounds like.

But, that's not all. I'm sure that this Calhoun must be related to what my Voice is doing. Or rather, what might be happening to her.

After some searching, I called someone. I don't know if he can help, but he certainly should know my Voice. He's on his way into town now. He should be arriving next Monday, the 28th, he said. But, who knows? The entire city is on lockdown, and what little information I'm able to glean from reliable sources is that the government is looking at options.

Options? That's a nice word for blowing us all to hell.

Here's the weird thing, though. If they were going to just eradicate this plague from the face of the earth, wouldn't they have done it already?

Something weird is going on in the White House. I'm not sure how exactly I'm going to find out what, but you know me. I'll certainly try.

So many threads, so many little Voices wanting the attention all at once, and I'm not sure how to get all the information out to you.

Be patient. I promise I will keep you in the loop.

I was coming back from the direction of the focal point for the plague, retracing my voice's steps, when I snapped this pic:

I did nothing to this picture. I saw someone, I took a picture. So what would have caused the picture to look... like that.

I looked away, though, and the figure was gone again. So, I looked up and checked the trajectory of what he was shooting.

Someone want to tell me who Zee Lewis is, and why he'd care about a room she was murdered in?

Look, keep checking, I'll do the same. I need to find out more about Calhoun. My gut tells me that something's very wrong here. And I always listen to my gut.

  1. A friend of mine frequented a bar in that neighborhood. Apparently this Zee Lewis was a recent arrival to the city. She was hardly the life of the party. My friend found her name off something she dropped as she entered the bar. Tried to chat her up and make a connection with her. Failed. He referred to her as "a drunk goth chick," someone who hated life and men, and said she wasn't worth the trouble. But he said she was a looker, and he always spotted her in that bar. Until the night some psycho chopped her up.

As for why someone was scoping out her room? Murderers often return to the scene of the crime, especially if they considered the murder a triumph of some kind. Perhaps the peeping tom was a conceited, impulsive killer whose sole achievement in life was turning her into dog food. Maybe this Lewis girl was "looking for Mister Goodbar." If you saw that old movie you know how that kind of adventure ends up.

Finally, yes, the government would have, and should have, turned New York City into a radioactive bowl of green glass, if the proper protocols had been followed. But civilian control of the military means politics must inevitably extend its greasy reach into what should be a logical, sensible solution. Powerful people probably pulled the strings to delay or reconsider or "convene a committee" about wiping out the plague. In other words, doing nothing.

Remember that AIDS became widespread because many politicians considered it a disease of gays only, thought it proper ethnic cleansing of undesirables or "the will of God," and let it spread. That's politics intervening in the prevention and treatment of disease. The same thing seems to be happening in the case of this disease.

The military may only sterilize the city when it's too late to do any good - except for killing the population that was already dying from the disease, putting them out of their misery.
